The National Theatre have another super production showing at the Showcase in Linwood. It is Les Liaisons Dangereuses. This is a 1985 play by Christopher Hampton from the 1782 novel by Pierre Choderlos de Laclos.

Marquise de Merteuil (Lesley Manville) is a master in the art of survival. Alongside the magnetic Vicomte de Valmont (Aiden Turner) they turn seduction into strategy and weaponise desire. When their alliance collapses into rivalry, the battle between them threatens to destroy everyone in their path.

The Guardian newspaper review awarded a 3 star rating to the 2026 production calling it stylish and bold. The reviewer highlighted Lesley Manville’s queenly and ruthless staging as the Marquise and praised Aiden Turner’s charismatic turn as the Vicomte. ^{_{(courtesy Showcase Cinema)}}
