Guest speaker, Barbara Graham spoke on the battles Florence Nightingale undertook to change nursing practices. This revealed Florence in her role as a campaigner as well as her ‘lady with the lamp’ image.
Barbara Graham said: “Florence Nightingale is known for her work during the Crimean War of 1853-56 but she continued to campaign for public health reforms throughout her long life, despite impaired health. Even today, we benefit from her vision of how health care should be delivered.”
